The Artists

I remember in primary school and high school, I would draw with coloured pencils, pastels, ink and watercolours. In 1983, at the age of 23, I had a huge revelation when one of my friends’ mother showed me her oil paintings. Fascinated by this medium, I started painting with undiluted oils on carboard-backed canvases. Techniques borrowed from the old Masters of the 17th century were part of my learning process. For the past few years, I have painted landscapes mainly.

I have been a graphic artist since 1992, and in the 90’s commercial art was my life’s focus. I would do oil paintings only when time allowed.

Graphic art has been beneficial to me: two different but very creative worlds. Since the year 2000, I have devoted more time to my oil painting and I am always on the lookout for new ideas and new images to create. To sum up: Art is my life and my life is devoted to art.
